REACH Solar Setters & Builders Guide

Welcome to the Team!

This guide will help you become a productive Setter and/or a Builder with REACH Solar. You will learn what steps to take and have links to the resources you need to do your job well. Please note that you can be a Setter only, or a Builder only, or you can be both and get paid as both! If you bring in a lead that goes solar, you will be paid as a Setter. If you bring in a Setter, Builder, or Sales Rep to join your team, and they are responsible for a homeowner going solar, you will be paid a bonus and/or override according to the compensation plan as described below. REACH Solar Setters and Builders, let's go!

FAST START TRAINING

Every new REACH Solar Rep, whether you want to just bring in homeowner leads and electric bills, just build a team of other Reps, just be a Sales Rep, or you want to do all of it...NEEDS TO SEE the FAST START TRAINING!

Fast Start Training is conducted 'live' every Monday and Wednesday night at 8:30 pm ET and every Saturday at 10 am ET via Zoom. Fast Start Training is hosted by Nick Odom. Nick is a top producer in the direct selling industry.  You can join these, and any REACH Zoom, by clicking the 'JOIN REACH ZOOM' tab at the top of the home page of your back office or on the Calendar tab.

However, if you cannot attend any of these live FAST START TRAINING sessions, take the time now to watch a FAST START TRAINING from January of 2025 below.

The Setter Role

REACH Solar Setters contact homeowners from various sources and interest them in learning about the benefits of installing a solar system on their home. You will ask them to forward to you an electric bill. You will then create a Lead in your back office, upload the electric bill, and choose a Sales Rep. The Sales Rep will create a system design, price the system, and let you know to contact your homeowner to schedule a Zoom meeting with that Sales Rep and you. Your role during the meeting is simply to make the introduction of the homeowner to the Sales Rep and observe the presentation. Should the homeowner decide to go solar, you will earn a commission from that sale.

The Builder Role

As a Builder, you are going to build a team with REACH Solar. You will contact people and interest them in working with REACH as a Setter, Builder, or Sales Rep (if they have previous solar sales experience).

There are various ways to contact people and an endless supply of people that are potentially looking for a way to earn extra money. Your job is to get them to take a look at our business overview video presented by CEO, Mike Fedick. When you ask them to watch the overview, make sure you follow up. If someone has a desire to earn more money, there is a very good chance they will decide to work with us at REACH Solar.

How are Setters Paid?

REACH Solar Setters, like everyone at REACH Solar, are paid a percentage of the commissionable revenue (CR) on a sale. The commissionable revenue (CR) is what's left over after the equipment, labor to install the system, and the installation company profit are paid. The amount of commissionable revenue (CR) fluctuates depending on the size of the solar system and other factors. For the purpose of explaining how Setters are paid commission, we will use an $8,000.

How Are Builders Paid?

Builder are paid an Enroller Bonus of 2% of the commissionable revenue (CR) on a sale every time someone they personally brought into the business is involved in a sale as a Setter or Sales Rep. In addtion to the Enroller Bonus, Builders can start to be paid overrides once their team does $25,000 in commissionable revenue (CR) in a month. Keep in mind that CR follows the Setter. So, if a Builder has 1 or more Setters responsible for 3 or 4 sales in a month which gets them to $25,000, they will start receiving overrides regardless of who the Sales Rep was.

REACH Solar Setters are paid an increasing percentage of the CR based on how many prior sales they have been responsible for.

First Sale - 10% or $800 (based on a total CR of $8000)
Second Sale - 12% or $960
Third Sale - 14% or $1,120
Fourth Sale - 16% or $1,280
Fifth Sale and each sale thereafter - 18% or $1,440

So, if you collect 5 electric bills that result in sales, you will earn about $5,600.

REACH Solar Setters
How Many People Can You Text About REACH Solar?

Once a Builder has at least $25,000 in CR in a month, they now are at a 20% commission level. They will be paid 20% minus the percentage of the Setter on their team who is responsible for the lead.

20% minus
Setters 1st Sale (10%) = 10% or $800 (CR of $8,000)
Setters 2nd Sale (12%) = 8% or $640
Setters 3rd Sale (14%) = 6% or $480
Setters 4th Sale (16%) = 4% or $320
Setters 5th Sale (18%) = 2% or $160

Once at the 20% level, by bringing in a Setter that is responsible for 5 sales, you can earn $2,400 in overrides on those 5 sales plus approximately $800 in Enroller Bonuses.

Builders can earn overrides of up to 37% as they grow their business. Consult the REACH Compensation Plan in your back office under Marketing>Compensation Plan.

People that have been in or are still in direct sales are great Builder candidates. If you know anyone in direct sales, you most defintely want to show them the REACH Solar business model. As well, focus on people that work in professions where they come in contact with homeowners such as real estate or home improvement.

M1 and M2 Pay

Once a homeowner decides to go solar, the Sales Rep will help them get approved for financing and sign the agreement. Then a Site Survey is scheduled. The installation company will send out personnel to assess the home and make sure everything is in place for the solar installation and that nothing additional is needed. Once this is done a Scope of Work (SOW) is then approved. This is considered M1 or Milestone 1. The finance company will then release a small amount of funds to the installation company which in turn will pay REACH Solar. REACH Solar will then pay you and the Sales Rep a small amount of the overall commission. This could take about 2 weeks.

When the solar system installation is complete, the rest of the funds are paid by the finance company to the installer and REACH Solar is then paid. REACH Solar will pay out the rest of the commissions on the sale. This is considered M2 or Milestone 2. Solar installations can take as little as a month but we always tell homeowners 60 days as outside agencies such as the local building department and the utility company are involved in the process and can cause delays. In some cases, when there are extraordinary circumstances, installations can take longer than 60 days.

payquicker

Once you have a sale as a Setter, Builder, or Sales Rep and you are entitled receive commissions from REACH, you will need to set up your PayQuicker account. REACH sends your commissions to PayQuicker. Depending on how you set up your account, you can then transfer those funds directly to a bank account or to a REACH Solar debit card that can be used like any other debit card. For details, visit the RESOURCES tab that can be accessed by clicking on your photo/avatar at the top right of your back office home page. You will see PayQuicker at the top left of the navigation menu.

PayQuicker and the REACH Compensation Plan

REACH pays us through PayQuicker. However, you don't need to worry about filling this out until you have some solar sales to get paid on.

If you want to learn about our compensation plan, and you should, there is a Compensation Plan Document and a detailed video under the Compensation Plan tab in the left-hand navigation menu.

Your Solar Info Tab

If you're a Setter/Builder your Solar Info tab will not contain all the information that a Sales Reps tab will. However, most likley the most important information for a Setter is the Installer Map (in what states do we install) which you will see here.

Looking for Support in Your Upline

Another step in the process of getting set up with REACH Solar is to understand your support system. You may have been introduced to REACH by someone who is new themselves or is part-time. They may not have the answers to you questions. So, find out who are the designated Sales Reps, Team Sales Reps, and especially Company Sales Reps above you. These people are veterans of the solar industry and can explain concepts to you and answer your questions.

You can do that by clicking on the TEAM tab at the top of your REACH Solar back office. Once there, you'll see Your Sponsor listed at the top of that page. Look to the right. You will see an up arrow with 3 lines. Click on that. It will show you everyone in your upline. Sales Reps, Team Sales Reps, and Company Sales Reps are labeled as such. If you specifically want to talk with someone other than me (Dale Guiducci) contact me at 619-252-9670 and I will connect you with that person.

Creating a Lead and Uploading an Electric Bill

We can use a picture of a paper copy of an electric bill or a PDF that is generated from the homeowners online account with their electric company.

Ideally, we need one months uasge and cost, and a graph showing 12 months of consumption.

Once you submit the Lead, the Sales Rep will get a text alert. They will download the homeowner information and electric bill and begin working on the project. Once they have a design & proposal done, assuming the house is a good candidate for solar, they will contact you to set an appointment.

*Be aware that your Lead will now become an Opportunity. You and the Sales Rep will now be able to communicate by putting notes into the Opportunities section.

*There are several more Sales Reps to choose from than shown here.

Why You Should Submit You're Own Electric Bill

If you're a homeowner, the best way for you to be convinced and become passionate about residential solar is to see how much you can save on your own home by going solar. And, you get to see a presentation. This will get you comfortable with the way that we present solar to homeowners. You will know that we always treat people with respect and answer every question they have.

This doesn't mean that you have to go solar. Although once you see the benefits you may decide to. This will simply help with your knowledge and understanding of the REACH process.

Introduction Video

Below is a short introduction video to being a REACH Solar Setter and Builder. In this video I talk about calling people about solar versus texting. Please note that texting people may be more effective. You will see a text script further down on the page. This video will simply get you primed for what you will learn below. In this video I discuss another video that will help you understand how solar saves homeowners money. That video is at the bottom of this page and it is important that you watch that as well.

Making Contact with People

It is recommended that both REACH Solar Setters and Builders (and especially if you want to be both) use the text format below to make contact with people. Why?

  • If you are contacting homeowners for utility bills and they either don't own a home or their home is not a good candidate for solar, you are missing an opportunity to have them join your REACH business and potentially earn overrides on their activity.
  • If you are contacting people to join your REACH business, and they aren't interested in earning additional income but they are a homeowner, you are missing an opportunity to earn a minimum of 10% of the sale of a solar system.

If you are doing one and not the other, you are leaving money on the table.

Make a List of Homeowners You Know

STEP 1 is to make a list of homeowners that you know without judging at all whether you think they'd be interested in solar or not. First, you most likely don't know if they would be interested in solar or have considered solar in the past. And second, even if they decide that they are not, they could introduce you to someone that is or they could perhaps become a Setter or Builder on your team. So, just make a list of every homeowner that you know.

STEP 2 is to follow the text script that you see to the right. REACH Solar should have texted and emailed this image to you which will allow you to see it more clearly. If you can't locate it, click on the link below the image to download it from here.

The concept is first greet your contact before launching into verbage about solar. Then discovering if they own their home. If you know that they do or do not you can skip that step.

1st message - Hey ( Joe ) how are you?  (Say hello the way YOU normally would.)

(wait for a response back)

2nd message - Glad things are good. Quick question for you. Do you own the home you’re in or do you rent?

(wait for a response back)

3rd message

If they say they OWN their home: copy and paste the homeowner message & send.

That’s what I thought. The reason I was asking is I recently started working with a solar company that utilizes this advanced software to assess whether solar energy is a good fit for your home. One of the most beneficial features of this software is its ability to estimate how much you could potentially SAVE from switching to solar.

Do me a favor and send me a copy of your electric bill.

You can either forward it to me directly or take a picture of the front page that shows the 12-month usage graph. Once I have that information, I can run it through our software. If the results look promising, I'll reach back out and share the good news. The best part is at least you’ll know if solar is worth looking into.

Thanks

If they say they RENT their home: copy and paste the opportunity message & send.

That’s what I thought but was not sure. The reason I was asking is I recently partnered with an incredible company in the solar industry. I know we are both busy with our own commitments, but what caught my attention about this opportunity is that you don't need any prior knowledge about solar.

The process is straightforward: you simply connect homeowners-starting with your landlord—who are frustrated with rising electricity costs and want to save money.

The company has a dedicated team of professionals who handle all the sales stuff on your behalf. For every referral that successfully transitions to solar, you can earn up to $1,400 per homeowner.

It's amazing how simple they’ve made it.

How to Properly Enroll a New Setter, Builder, or Sales Rep

Make sure your prospect has seen the REACH business overview

There are 3 ways of doing that.

1- Send them the video link from your back office

2- Send them the link through the REACH Out App

3- Invite to a 'live' business overview on Monday or Wednesday Night at 8 pm ET, or Saturday at 12:30 pm ET. Do this by first sending them the Enrollment Sizzle video in the back office under Marketing. They will click a link under the video to schedule which day & time they'd like to attend.

My 'go to' method is sending the video link. It allows them to watch it NOW or at a time thats convenient for them versus having to shedule themselves to see the live overview. The REACH Out App will give you the same speed and flexibility.

What Should You Do with New REACH Reps?

There is a long answer to the question, "What should you do with new REACH Reps?" But the short answer, and what you want to do when you're still new yourself, is schedule a time with you, your new Rep, and your upline leader. If you don't know who your upline leader is, call me at the number at the bottom of this page.

You also want to get them into a FAST Start Training as soon as possible. Look at the Calendar tab and see when their first availablility is.

And, get them on our Team Setter/Builder training on Tuesday nights at 8 pm ET.

How Many People a Day Should You Contact?

If you ask 10 people this question you'll get 10 different answers. Contact as many people as you feel comfortable and have time to follow up with. A philosophy I learned many years ago is, "2 people a day brings freedom my way". It's a corny saying but it's easy to remember. If you only have a few minutes a day to devote to your REACH business, contact a minimum of 2 people.

Think about this. If you contact 2 people every day for a year, that's 730 people. If 1 out of 20 goes solar, you'll earn about $50,000 in commissions! If 1 out of 20 joins your business, you'll have 36 people duplicating what you did, earning you overrides on hundreds of solar sales.

How Does Solar Save People Money?

When I first got into the solar business, I was told that solar can save homeowners tens of thousands of dollars. That was exciting. But I didn't know exactly how solar did that. Perhaps you would like to know the answer to that same question. You're in luck! I produced a video for you for just that purpose.
